Hi Peoples,

Today I upgraded my Virgin Media broadband to 20meg, however, I've done a few broadband speed tests and it's giving me results like 4meg and 6meg download. Would my wiresless networking be causing this? I have a 54mbps usb dongle and router...if I buy a faster one will that improve my internet speeds?

Thanks,

Sabastien.

I'd wait a while, as chances are your area has not recived the upgrade yet, thus meaning you are on 10 meg still. Give it time for things to settle down.

Thanks for the advice guys.
The computer downstairs has a wired connection, I've plugged it in to the modem and ran a couple of speed tests. I'm getting results of 17meg plus...one test it even told me that I had 51meg :S

Would purchasing the new linksys wireless -n router and usb thing help me get similar speeds upstairs? I think the transfer rate on them is 300mbps

I wouldnt touch the draft-n gear as it might not even be compatible when the proper 'n' technology comes into play.

Your wireless would most likely me causing the problem. I think you can get something that will turbo charge the dongle, but i think it could be my mind playing tricks on me :)
