Wireless problem

I've recently got a new computer, which I bought a PCI wireless adapter card for (D-Link G510 (rev c)).

The new computer is running Vista64, and I had some trouble finding drivers for the card, but I managed it from the Australian D-Link website.

However, internet performance on my computer is dire. For instance it has just taken 28 seconds to do a Google search and 21 seconds to load the Google homepage. I find myself having to reload pages frequently either to not get a blank white page, or to not get the "Server not found" error.

Vista says the signal strength is 'Good' and I have been happily using a wireless USB adapter with my old PC (running XP) from the same position and I have never had any problems.

As for location, my router is not far away (maybe 2 metres), but it is not in the line of sight of my PC.

Also at the moment I am downloading a file on that PC at a consistent speed of about 250Kb/s, which is confusing.

Do you think I need a new card, or could this be a driver problem?

It's a brand new PC (less that a week old), I've got the normal spyware/anti-virus stuff on it and I barely use the internet on it (for the above reason). The problem was there from the moment I built it

I have 4Gb RAM (see sig). Though why would lack of RAM mean that web pages would intermittently not load?

The internet works perfectly via an ethernet cable, so I've more or less definitely narrowed it done to the card but I'm just not sure whether this is a common problem with PCI wireless cards and therefore should get wireless USB adaptor, or is it just a Vista x64 driver issue?

I've never had a PCI wireless card before and I got to solely to minimise wires, so I'm not sure what to expect but like I said in the OP, my old USB adaptor worked flawlessly in the same spot with XP
