Hi people,

I got a rather strange problem with my WiFi. I bought recently a new computer system from here and everything works fine expect the internet.

My build is as follows:
VTX3D HD 7970 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2)
Cooler Master CM-690 II Advanced USB3.0 Dominator Case - Black/White
OcUK E2250SWDA 22" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXV2UK)
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003)
Razer Arctosa Keyboard - Silver
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU)
Cooler Master Hyper 612S CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/1156/1155/775/AM3/AM2+/AM2)
Creative Inspire A520 5.1 Speaker System (51MF4110AA008)
Asus PCE-N15 300Mbps 802.11B/G/N Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter
OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

My laptop, iphone, ipad, ipod and other pc all can connect to the router apart my new PC. I tried to check for possible driver updates but found anything. So, i decided to buy a new network card from Malta and got Edimax EW-7722IN.

For a strange reason this card is also having problems to connect to the router.

To confirm that it wasn't a range problem I putted the laptop etc in my room and they could connect with ease.

If anyone can please suggest me anything to solve this problem would be really happy.

Thanks in advance,
Kavalier.

Start basic, security code (wep / wpa / wpa2 etc) is correct? Someone hasn't changed it and not informed you?

Does it find any wireless networks?
Does it not connect or does it connect and say identifying?

Etc, do what you think you need to do to connect, and give some information on whats happening at different stages.

Hi, thanks for your fast reply.

So the security is WPA2. The security key provided by my ISP is correctly inputed. Yes the card finds my wireless router and 3 others in the area. My home wireless network is also being listed as 5/5 signal strength.

But strangely when i try to connect to the internet I get server not found.

Does your wireless device say your are connected to your router?

If so does it say limited connectivity or internet access when you hover over the wireless icon in the system tray?

It says connected to the internet but than when i go to my browser(tried chrome, Firefox and IE) it says server not find. Also when I log on WOW, i login in and after it tells me disconnected from server.

This issue is happening with both cards.

OK.

Run a command prompt and try a ping command.

Click the start orb and in the search box type CMD and in the list above you will see the command prompt box. Right click this and select run as administrator. When the command box appears type ping www.google.co.uk.

Let me know the results.

Firewall, Windows firewall.
AV Avast free and malwarebytes. Ran scan system is without any infections.

Dunno what is causing this problem, maybe card incompatibly? But if so both cards one PCE and one PCI

Just incase you didn't know the ping command sends packets to the destination, and measures the response time.

The good news being you can ping google, so the hardware is working. It just means theres a setting thats wrong somewhere.

Well I tried that command before and know what it does:) Sometimes when the card won't catch my router it will send time outs of course.

Is your DNS Servers correctly set? try setting DNS (manually) to 8.8.8.8 (Google) and re-trying. Had a similar issue on the in-laws laptop recently

:)

Yes hostile i tried all those troubleshooting methods. For all that tried to help me I thank you for your time, but I figured out the problem was that the network card signal wasnt powerful enough to reach to my room.

Try and keep your router as high as possible and preferably in a central location of your house. you can also change the channel to try and help get a better signal.
