Hi my brother has brought a wireless Dlink router and dongle.

got it all set up and he has an excellent signal in his bedroom all the time never alters from max signal however sometimes it just drops the net and he has to pull out the usb dongle and stick it back in a couple of times to get the pc to recognise it again.

anyone any ideas why ?

pc is on windows xp btw.

The problem lies with the pc i think.
the dongle and router came in a package together so are same make there shouldn't be any issues with it.

do you hhave anything close to either of the units, such as dect phone, tv, xbox360?

things like that can interfere with the signal as i have recently learnt.

I dont think it is the signal being interupted i think it is some kind of problem with the usb port or the usb dongle.

It disapears and you have to unplug it and then plugit back in a few times to get xp to recognise it again.

Is this by any chance a DSL-604+ ? I seem to be having the same problems at the moment, it only seems to happen if I use windows live messenger though. The only thing I can think of is that a port is sending malformed packet to the router and dropping it. Updated to the latest firmware to see if that helps.
