Hi i recently picked up a dell vostro and a ASUS wireless router. Just a few basic questions. i have a USB NTL broadband modem that i am using via usb to connect my pc to the web. But how exactly do i use the router to provide wireless. I have plugged in the ethernet cable from the modem to the router and plugged in the cable from the pc ethernet port to the router.
My laptop finds the router etc but will not let me connect to the internet, this also happens on my pc when the ethernet cable is plugged in. So basically i am asking how do i allow my modem to supply broadband via ethernet cable? and how do i allow my PC to connect to the internet via the ethernet cable? :)

Thanks for your help!

you will have to login into the router and set the router to DHCP save settings logout reboot both the
modem and the router and it then should make the connection from the modem to the router.

also make sure your browser is set to never dial a connection in the

tools>
internet options>
connection>

don't use the usb connection to your pc after you have setup the router. just use the ether net connections
at the back for any local machines or use the wifi

Both machines should be able to connect to the router (including accessing the web interface).
Try disconnecting the modem from the router, switching if off and back on, waiting for the lights to settle, then hooking it up to the router - the router should be able to tell you if it's getting an IP address from the modem.
