Going to be setting up a wireless network in my house because my folks can't be dealing with the hassle of all the cable that go around the place anymore!

I know quite a bit about the actual setting up of wireless networks (I do them at work) but its more an issue of ranges of the units. Obviosuly in open plan offices its not an issue but this network is being set up on the ground floor of our house with the router being placed in the living room and the 2 PC's receiving the connection in the room next door.

The signal will have to travel through 2 fairly thin walls...will this be a problem? What is the range on these things??!

2 thin walls isn't a problem. the range depends entireley on the obstacles and the hardware. Whichever has the shortest range (card or router) that's your Max range. but for most households it's fine. The average router will do 20M indoor rating nicely. As long as you get decent cards with similar range your ok.

Yeh going to go with some Link Sys ones...had experience with them, not the cheapest, and rate them :)

i get a great connection from my living room 2 floors under my loft and router, i also get very good reception in my garage and back garden (in the summer that it bbbrrrrrr). mine is a lynksys thingy.

Tom, come around and check out my wireless system. I went for Linksys as well(both router and pci card), it feels really robust and the setup was fairly painless.

I get a signal strength of 'excellent' from the next room, and thats with a big glass mirror in the way of the signal and a wall.
