i need a wireless router for my computer and also my wifes work laptop
i need something that will not interupt my online gaming
ive found this
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-121-NG&tool=3
currently im using and unlocked BT Voyager 210 that sits downstairs with a huge 25m ethernet cable running up to the computer upstairs.
If is were to get this netgear router with usb adaptor how would the setup look, from the telephone socket to the computer.
many thanks and sorry for the noobieness :D

you firstly go unplug cable from pc put this in ,, then run the one in box from it to the pc,, you then need phone line connected on back of router

turn pc on let it settle you should be on either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 for log in to router here you follow simple settings to get internet details in ,, you save it back it up..

get the wireless wep key whilst in ther settings or make your own up,,

once done you should be on network/internet check internet works

now its up to you if you use example ps3/xbox downstairs you can plug it all in down there take cable away from stairs etc plug xbox/ps3 in to back of router then use usb adapter i pc upstair,,

or tell us what you want and where ?

What do you mean how would it look, it wouldn't look as it you wouldn't need the 25m long cable.

1) Plug in USB adapter into PC, insert CD that came with it and run the setup to install drivers for it you should then notice a wirelss icon in the system tray
2) Double click this icon and look for your SSID in the available networks, there may be more than one listed as you may pick up neighbours SSID if they have wireless running. Your SSID will probably contain netgear but the SSID should also, either be in the manual or stickied onto the router case somewhere.
3) Double click your SSID in the wireless connections and you will be asked for your encryption key which will either be wep or wpa, i guess wpa as the router is quite new, the wep or wpa should again be stickied on the router, type this key in and again to confirm and you should connect.
4) To be more secure you should log into the router http://192.168.1.1 find the wireless setting section and change the encrytption to WPA2 personal /TKIP and set a passphrase you will also need to change this on the PC.
