Hey guys quick one.

Am i right in thinking that if i enable mac filtering for wireless devices on my wireless router, outsiders so to speak will not be able to connect?

This way i dont have to enable all the other security stuff that could slow the connection down.

Surly this is all i would need to do.

My other devices that use the net are wired so no issues there.

No, they can very easily see what MAC addresses are connected (and therefore allowed) and spoof one. They're transmitted in plain text with every packet. MAC address restrictions are a waste of time, generally.

Slow it down? Doesn't make much of a difference...

I'd highly recommend that you don't do that, and that you use WPA-PSK TKIP with a decent length network key.

Cheers for that olly, will look into it.

Hadnt thought about mac address cloning lol. I had to do it on the router to get the ntl connection working, and that was easy enough.

DOH!!!!
