Hi all!

I'm looking to get a wireless speaker that is capable of streaming music over the WiFi from my PC. (So not Bluetooth, true WiFi), have never done this before so not sure what models/brands are the best.

On a budget, so cheaper the better, but best bang for the buck, don't mind paying extra money if it's worth it.

I came across a few, but interested in other people opinions.

Pioneer XW SMA 1 (Approx £80)
Sonos Play 1 (Approx £150.)

Also got recommend to look at Logitech Squeezebox Touch - but think these are closer to £150-180.

They are for my partner and I believe she's wanting it to exactly mimic what's playing on my PC in sync with the option to just play other music if my PC isn't playing music.

Sonos is better, but it won't play music over your PC speakers just from software. You need a Sonos playback device for every room in which you want to play music.

Probably the Pioneer and use Airplay?

If I were you and you're handy/up for a mess, i'd take a look at a raspberry pi or similar small computer with squeezebox client installed, a small cheap amp and that way you could use any pair of nice passive speakers, or buy some new just for it. The Pi will run you £30, the amp £10 and speakers you can choose whatever you like.

Sonos is great.

Create a shared folder on your PC (or even better on your router / NAS) with music in it, point the Sonos at that folder

But he can't play the same track simultaneously/synchronised on his PC and the Sonos. He'd need two Play1 at the least - £300+
