as title really
i am after (well, my dad is after) a wireless surround sound system for the lounge
he currently has a sony home theater set up, but due to them having hard wood floors put down, there is no where to hide the cables.

is wireless the only way to go? or are they more cunning ways to hide the cables?
suggestions appreciated (along with possible costs for new set up)

Thanks

As far as i know the wireless ones ant all that good, cost more and still need a power cable to each speaker.

You could run them behind the skirting board (remove, channel out a space, lay wire, refit boards)

or

You could get a colour matched wire box (is the skirting white?) or the likes.

the Creative GigaWorks G550W are THX Certified which is good. not sure if there really what your looking for the lounge thou.
I think your best of doing what crow said

You could run them behind the skirting board (remove, channel out a space, lay wire, refit boards)

that will be nice and tidy

google 'wireless speakers' - several types around now - some battery or mains powered

As said already , not sure of the quality:)

the reason i asked on here, is because google doesn't offer opinions, and won't offer me better alternatives!

the problem with channelling behind the skirting boards will be that the speakers will have to stay in fixed positions.
the lounge is quite big, and they like to move the furniture around dependent on how many people are in the room - this is why the wireless was being considered

thanks for the help :)

as previously pointed out wireless speakers arn't really an option, speakers always need to draw from a power source, technology simply hasn't come that far.

In my eyes you have 2 options:-

5.1 system with 'wireless rear speakers' plugged into a power source at the rear of the room rather then channelled to the front (many 5.1 systems offer this).

2.1 system such as the Bose 321 which gives a surround sound effect from just 2 front speakers... Denon also do a similar system.
