Looking for recommendations for a wireless surround sound system please, currently have a AV Receiver with 5.1 speakers although when we move house id like to go wireless.

Useage - movies, games not fussed about listening to music really. Budget aprox £1200, would consider up to £1500. It'll be for a loft conversion gaming room.

Ive been looking at Sonos, and happy to consider any other options....

Thanks.

Sonos suck with their 65,000 track limit.

Both Sonos and Sony subs are overpriced for what you get. Crappy plastic £700 for 18cm 300w? Can buy two bk xls 300 subs. And dual 6.5" for Sonos? Lol

Plus one minute time out for the Sony sub hahahhaha that best allow to be changed to 30 mins or so.

Keep what you have
The loft space is a bit of a weird shape so bit difficult to feed cables around so was looking at wireless.

How about just adding wireless rears? LCR and sub stay with wired, I understand with Yamaha then can be set as wireless speakers. Not too up on wireless with AVR

No idea you could do that, although will still remain a challenge as the way the room is setup only the front middle speaker will be near (under) the TV, the front L and R will need to be to the side of the sofa, and with the rears behind so only the middle front speaker than be easily wired up, the rest will need to be wireless, or with some significant cable management.

Difficult to explain but the TV will be mounted on the only flat wall up there, the rest has sloping celling and the flat wall is at the smaller end of an L shape, and the sofa will be towards the bottom of the L shape (if ive explained that correct lol), so ive been investigating wireless.

Just to update the thread, ended up ordering (not delivered yet) Sonos Arc, 2x Era 300s and the Gen 3 Sub, worked out £1849 - spotted on hotukdeals. Really wanted wireless, means I can move my current AV reciever and 5.1 surrounds system to our small cinema room we are planning when we move (which is typical square shape room so wires are easily hidden).

I wasn’t but now I am.

Plus not fussed about power cables as have installed electrical points in every corner of the room, just didn’t want to feed speaker cables from the TV stand.

I’ll consider the Q990c for the main lounge when we move. Always fancied Sonos since my mate demo’d his system, so figured would give it a go. Upgrading from a Yamaha RXv4A AV Receiver with 10 year old tannoy 5.1 speakers so I’m sure I’ll be happy with it.

I also have a separate office so kinda like the option of moving the Era 300s for music on my WFH days.

This is my sitting room setup now. I bought the Era 300s a couple of months ago to replace a pair of ones but only cracked them open recently. It’s an awesome setup for a “norm” both for atmos (make sure you have earc and not just arc on your TV!) and music. I also have a port in this room to tie in the turntable and it sounds great.

I know there are levels available but sonos really works for me (5 rooms plus a move and a roam) and I’m very happy with it. I am sure that some would laugh at my PSU and GPU, RAM timings and all that but it’s just the same thing.
Yeah got a 55inch LG CS so supports eARC, thanks. Happy to hear some positive thoughts on the system!
