Hiya Chrissss (enough s's lol)
Have you tried just letting windows manage the connection, looks like its based on a realtek chip and for some reason win 7 keeps trying to install a driver through windows update that buggers up my wireless also, make sure that hasnt installed and try using windows to manage connection (Rather than the devices utility), 54% maybe a bit low if thats quality, not strength (not sure).
Maybe worth trying a different channel also if above doesnt work.

If i remember right, theres a little tick box in the wireless section of the control panel that says allow windows to manage my connections (or words to that effect) Just tick it and you should get the windows connection notification in the taskbar. Try setting up your connection through that.

Dave.

Edit.Just realised Ive got dual boot with XP on here, not used it in a while will go check, I may be confusing it with Vista

Soz, think I was thinking of a netgear adaptor that had that option. But in your image above its got a little checkbox at the bottom for Windows Zero Config, tick that and it should let XP manage the connection.
