I'm connecting wirelessly to my Linksys WAG354G v2 using a Netgear WG511T card in my laptop which runs XP.

The laptop connects to the router with no problems at all and i can browse and do everything just fine. However, the windows wireless network icon appears in the taskbar and says that the wireless is not connected. The software that comes with the Netgear card says that everything is working as it should and that is handling all of the settings for encryption etc.

Similarly, if i go to the network connections tab it says that the wireless network connection is not connected. If i go to repair it works fine until i reboot the computer and then it is back to saying it isn't connected and it jolly well is, as i am writing this on there right now!

Any ideas what is causing this as even though it is working that little icon that says it isn't connected is annoying me!

The Netgear 511T wireless utility turns OFF the Windows wireless by default when installed!

to be honest I would scrap the netgear software (last time I used it it kept on bombing out the connection) and just use standard Windows wireless

Guess its personal choice though
