loop the video cables back into the case through a hole ?

you could probably solder a spare cable directly to the back of the connector pins, but not ideal.

loop the cables back through a hole is the best option and easiest. other option would be to custom make some cables. i have seen flat monitor cables which would be ideal for your setup. problem with flat cables is that thier signal degrades over long runs so they have to be kept short in run lengths, which you will have no problems in doing.

from the looks of the pics on that link, he did it the same way.
the small monitor on the front appears to be linked up using tv out

That side monitor is a laptop screen, still. I would like to know how to acomplish this using a laptop screen, as the connectios are different.

The small screen is a mini PS One screen, the ones you connect to the console via the back.

I whoopsied. The LCD is a monitor LCD. He has dismantled it and used the laptop PCB etc and just fed in the power and VGA back inside the case as they would normally be used.
