Hey all,

I have just received a few parts off my brother to help me setup my sound system in my new car,

Now these parts dont have any instuctions so I am a bit clueless as to what I need to get them working,

I am also looking at buying a new headunit to go with them so any recommendations to one of these would be appreciated also.

I have took some pictures of the subwoofer and amp that he gave me today as he is as clueless as me:

Now I realise there has to be some kind of power from my headunit to the amp and then cables going from the amp to the sub woofer. I am also planning on putting some 6x9 speakers in my parcel shelf and wondered if that would be possible.

I know I am asking a lot of questions but I am a bit of a novice at car sound systems!

Thanks a lot,

Sam

looking at the power connectors on the amp, it could be a good model. what is it?

you want a permanent live from the battery to the amp. an earth from the amp and earth point and then an ignition live from the headuni to the amp (the rem terminal)

then you need to run signal (the rca cables) from the headunit to the amp

get the low pass filter to about 80hz. no bass boost and set the gain as required

You'll need a standard wiring kit - power from battery to amp, phono from head unit to amp, ignition lead from headunit, earth/ground cable to amp from chassis, speaker wire to amp from sub box.

Should be able to pick up a good enough wiring kit for under £30.

I have no idea if its a good model or not,

Its a Mutant NW280SP if that means anything to you

Thanks for the advice so far :)

Not too good then :P

You don't want to be running 6x9's on the shelf. It's pointless with a sub, save up for replacing the front speakers.

depends, ime, on what you have upfront, but speakers in the rear shelf drag the sound too far to the back, which isnt what ive been aiming to acheive

if the OP's amp is 4ch then save those two channels for amping the fronts if you want it to sound better

To be fair, my Honda has speakers on the back shelf and I have a sub in the boot. I've run it at "sufficient" levels without issue :)

I'm running the stock sound system in the Ti, and it's pretty decent. Uses 6x9s in the back, and a two-way set up in the front - I think it's good to have some meat at the back as well as at the front for a bit of fill in the audio.

:)

It's fair enough leaving the stock in the back, i have in the ZR. But they aren't on the shelf itself, they're tucked away either side, out the way of the air movement of the sub. That's what does the damage.

As people have said, you hear the sounds from the front moreso than the rear, a good setup infront would be much more beneficial than a couple of poxy 6x9s, not to mention sound a hell of a lot better too
