My wisdom teeth has been playing up for about 2 weeks now, and it's been slowly getting worse.

Tonight I woke up with excruciating pain, can hardly open my mouth.... I have already made myself an appointment with dentist in 2 weeks ( earliest they could do )

I have just taking 1g of paracetamol, 400mg of ibuprofen.. Tried my daughters bonjela with no luck, hot water with salt ( made no difference ) and now finally calpol, which seems to have taking the edge off while tablets are kicking in..

Anyone got any home remedies? My beloved wife has got some co dydramol but that seems a bit extreme, although I was tempted to swoff some down....

codeine. or loads of anything with codeine in.

you can also get anesthetic type sprays that are aimed at bad throats and tonsillitis. try spraying one of those on the area

edit- yea that codydramol will do the trick. or get some 30/500's from a doctor. or combine 15/500 co codamols with 15/400 ibuprofen and codeine (boots or nurofen plus) a few hours later. although this is maybe a bit medical and i would advise the emergency dentists incase you need some antibiotics

Your dentist should make exceptions for emergencies. Whether they will and whether this is is up to them and you respectively.

e: what this thread needs is non-medical input from Hikaru, an actual real life dental genius.

Tablets have now kicked in and pain has calmed down a lot. Definitely need to see my dentist and see about extracting these evil! !@#$

Its actually amazing how much, over the counter pain relief can help. Glad i didn't take the co dydramol as that would have knocked me out

And no sleep here as im working all weekend... Gotta love the nhs and enhancements!

Take more Ibus. It's what you need. I have wisdom teeth which are growing sideways in to my back tooth and when I'm stressed, really stressed, I can tell as they flare up like a right you know what. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory, which stops the inflammation. So Should do the trick. Take 1000mg and you'll be grand. Codeine is fine for being off with the fairies a bit, as is morphine, but the ibu will bring down the swelling.

I've been told one.of mine is showing signs of decay and needs to come out. I'm really dreading this - not so much for the tooth extraction but because I find it really painful to keep my jaw open for the length of time that will be required. I get shooting pains up the side of my head etc. I have asked them to knock me out for it but they are not having it.

I have wisdom teeth on the lower jaw at each side and they just have decided to slightly poke out but otherwise just stay there. No pain, they're not dead, they've just decided to not really make an appearance, I guess.
