witcher 3 v skyrim v

As someone who has played the first 2 Witcher games, I can tell you that Witcher games are typically slow-burning games that reward you for reading the lore, exploring everywhere, and preparing for battle using the correct potions, oils, and spells. This series has been referred to as "hardcore RPG" by many in the past, whether this is true for the 3rd installment is yet to be seen.

The Elder Scrolls games have gotten easier and easier over the years. Skyrim is a purely casual action game where you can "complete" it with almost no effort. It's a game that gets better when you install mods, but recently the devs have shown us that they have 0 respect for modders and those who use them.

It's down to personal preference in the end, but since the 3rd Witcher game hasn't been released yet, it could be a casual snorefest like Skyrim was (without mods, of course). One thing the Witcher 3 will have though, is strong, memorable characters and story, as this story is based on a series of books, and not just made up by writers just before the game's release
