Witcher Playable Demo Now Available

Abit late isnt it really? Ive already bought the game and although I love it, id have much preferred to play a demo beforehand. Always helps me to assess whether or not games are worth the money im about to spend on them.

I didn't buy it because my rig is currently only just above the minimum reqs. Now a demo is available I'll give it a go and see how it runs.

Cool, a bit steep size for a demo but i'll be getting it. Want to buy the full game after reading all the good things about it on here, but haven't got the cash yet.:(

Thanks for the heads up,i keep looking at this game on the store shelve,s,i,ll try the demo, and if i like it my daughter will get it me for Christmas, thanks again.

Its a fantastic game, really nice looking too imo. It still puzzles me why most reviews of the game were average, its definetly up there in terms of RPG's with KOTOR.

I think the reason it got average reviews was because of all the flaws. Some of the criticisms raised against it are:

- The games loading times can be very long at times, and given the amount of transitions you have to make for some quests, this can really spoil the enjoyment.

- The dialogue in English at least is broken in lots of places. People respond to questions in strange ways, sometimes ways that don't even make sense. The translation from Polish to English is terrible.

- Partly due to the dialogue the voice acting is awful in places. The actors were obviously reading out lines without any idea of their context in a script.

- You can tackle quests in a variety of ways, and in a different order but while this is possible, doing so can often break quests, or cause npcs to either fail to appear, or appear in the wrong place. So you still have to do them in a certain order, otherwise the quests break.

- The porn/sex card system, is is misogynistic, and a bit childish. The games attitude to sex and relationships in general is a bit silly at times and really has nothing at all to do with your character, the plot, or anything. It feels like something stuck on at the end to try and cause some controversy and get adolescent boys to buy the game.

The game has lots of good things going for it, but really it is let down by a few flaws which prevent it being a great game. For myself I gave up towards the end of act two. I study English Literature as a subject, the dialogue was the final nail in the coffin for me.

The filesize is because in a demo you want to show off the best graphics your game has to offer, and the textures/stuff are all the larger files of the app. Therefore, you need to include the largest files, even if theres only a small amount of gameplay.

Is this game any good? The graphics look a bit dull from the screenshots.

The graphics are pretty good overall. Some places are really quite scenic whilst others are less so.
The animations make the graphics really come to life especially during fights. You can really feel it when you start doing some ******* combos on monsters, bloody flying everywhere and that sick sound of sword on flesh lol

The worst thing I would say is Geralts eyes are a bit too shiney lol.

Absolutely bang-on. Particularly with regard to the sex card part. If your shagging everything with a pulse actually had any bearing on the story, it might have been an interesting addition. As it is; it's just salacious.

That said, I happily stuck it out and really enjoyed the game. There were just a few niggles that spoiled the whole experiance.

Or (and this bit is serious) maybe they should have implemented a feature in which shagging too many women gave you an std, or a plethora of them.
