Does anyone know much about LEDs strips Powers, controllers so on.

I'm try to Create a DIY LED kit to use at home, I did not want to get a Overpriced ready made kits.

I know I need 1x 5m addressable LED strip to go around the TV, for lighting with future Tv sync like Philips ambilight, but they are so many models.
I'm looking at the WS2811 12v, WS2812b 5v, WS2812E 5v im not sure if I should get the 30 LEDs/m or 60 LEDs/m, if I get the 5v I will need some sort of voltage regulator for both Strips to works together ?

I want 1x White 5m White LED strip single colour 3000K - 4000K Not sure yet COB 12v. 320+ LEDs/m, I will also need another 5m cable to extend it due to the distance. I assume I will need a good Gauge 2 core for this, would electric cable be ok or cat5 cable ?

Power supply: Im thinking a 12v model but ill need to choose the strips before I can finalise a power supply

I dont really like the ready made controllers but I cant find anything decent
I came across a WLED + esp32 but I assume I would need a good few things or something ready made to use it.

Please help, I need to get this done before 24th but I jumped into the deep end.

No idea what all your gobbledygook is about so I checked YouTube. Thanks, another project to add to my queue that will never get done :D

just buy philips hue :P if you use a PC as a multimedia centre then you don't need to buy the expensive box because the computer does the processing.

you can also draw a box around the part of the screen you want the lights to sync with, so any movies with black borders still work as they should.

The lights are a waste of time btw, sure they look great, but after a few weeks you stop noticing them entirely anyway

Phillips is very pricey, as for the lighting, I'm only going by what I'm told, if you know what I'm mean. ;) so I thought the simplest option would be a esp32 (similar to a PI )

Get a Candeo controller WLED controller as it’ll save a lot of grief with the wiring. WS2812b 5V lights are what you need. You’ll need one controller and one 5V power supply per light strip.

For your TV Ambilight copy, forget WLED and look at the Govee T2 TV backlight. It’s not particularly cheap but it’s pretty much plug and play.

The Govee solution uses a top mounted camera so doesn't look all that great plus isn't as fast as a proper inline device. I think they have released a HDMI sync box product but currently only for smaller screens.

A last year I picked up the Lytmi Fantasy 3 for this very purpose, its a HMDI sync box and like the Govee products it wasn't cheap but works flawlessly.

I have one myself and never notice the camera. I agree it’s not as fast as an inline solution but it’s fast enough. I’ve no complaints which is why I recommended it.

I recently bought some addressable LED strips from Aliexpress, 12v and using WLED and ESP32 controllers. It's great, you can link them all, connect them to home assistant, decent app etc. Much better than the Hue and Govee kit I bought, and much, much cheaper.

For the 12v I bought some 12v to 5v converters (also from Aliexpress), you can either wire these up for the 5v on the ESP32, or just get one with a USB C plug and plug it straight in. I've done all the windows in the front of my house, with some pretty Christmas lighting going on.

Also using in my kitchen underneath some cabinets and shelves.

For more info, you're probably better off going to a more technically/electronically minded group than this forum - maybe a Facebook or Reddit group for WLED. I just used YouTube though.

I did mine a while ago, but for the tv I used a cheap adalight compatible controller which hooks to USB along with WS2812B LED strips using hyperion which works really well.

Recently as Hyperion supports WLED, I replaced my ceiling lights with a COB strip using a cheap wled compatible controller from ali express. I already had the wiring but there are several hundred LEDs running off a power supply hard wired into the lighting circuit. You can control WLED strips remotely with Hyperion which is quite cool co you can sync more lights to the screen.

Posted before on the LX1 solution - you get some high light quality (high CRI) that output a correct 6500K white light behind the tv - simples.
no need for modulating it with the screen or colour shifting do those actually help reduce the eye fatigue the light is meant to combat
- they just look gimmicky to me like car ambiant lighting ... which all has it's place in De Wallen
