Argh this is getting annoying now. I have a WN121T wireless network adapter so i can connect to the net via the DG834N router. Two other wired pcs and a wireless laptop (using its built in adapter) can connect to the net fine.

I am trying to get a second laptop to connect via the WN121T usb adapter. Windows picks it up ok and the netgear software says i'm connected wireless at 245 Mbps. I can't view any webpages though (other devices can) :(

The taskbar icon will says acquiring network for a while and then assign the ip to 0.0.0.0. After a few more minutes the ip changes to 192.168.0.1 (the ip of the router). I have tried assigning it manually (even though the DHCP server is running on the router) with no luck.

Any ideas how i can get this thing working?

EDIT: have just tried assigning a manual unused ip and windows says i'm connected at 295Mbps. I however still can't view any webpages :(
EDIT2: when i try a /release and /renew i get an error telling me the laptop cannot connect to the DHCP server. I fold.

Hummm, a router reset allowed the DHCp server to assign the wireless connection an IP. However, i still can't view webpages on that laptop, even though windows and the netgear software says im connected. Any ideas?

Any new drivers out for the adapter?
it's very odd, id double check you havent got something like MAC address filtering switched on and that your new adapter supports whatever encryption method your using.

Adaptor was bundled with my netgear router - its the USB 2 WN121T.

I tried assigning the DNS server to the ip of my router (192.168.0.1) and it did actually load web pages - albeit very very slowly.

Its silly, as the newer laptop with a built in 54 Mbps wireless adapter connects to internet in seconds and allows me to browse fine.

Have also noticed it is connecting on channels 8 and 3 - is this normal?

I had a similar problem, had a WN121 for about a week and was even told to return it by Netgear as it sat on 2 channels at 270Mbps and then dropped like a stone to 1MBps, lagged out in WoW and then locked up the connection totally. Tried all kinds of stuff from off different forums, unticking IPv6 in Vista, etc, then lo and behold a new Marvell driver turned up on Windows update after a week and worked fine ever since for a fortnight. I'v had to re-connect it to the network twice in that time maybe but its been fine. I still haven't worked out what the problem was, maybe the latest drivers just hate Vista. This was with a DG834N too.

Thanks for reply. Never thought of checking WU. I am using the latest software for the site though. Now yours is working, is it connecting a single channel?

Still connecting on 2 channels oddly enough, think its like 5 and 11 or something odd. I still don't get why it does that, unless it's something to do with draft-N. Will have a look when I get home.
