Wohoo's project MX5.

That interior must've taken a while to do? I do like the tan but not enough to replace the whole dash, carpets, gaiter etc myself. Good work.

Interior was half a days job, as its an old car the wiring loom isnt that difficult to sort out, its taken me longer to do a dash in a Corsa C than the whol interior in the MX.

Paradigm, I was thinking about a diamond stictched padded fabric, ive seen black interiors done like this, but its gonna be hard to get the colour match with Tan. Ive seen a lot of old cars with the carpeted tunnel look so hence the idea, plus ive got the carpet. im having a wander over to the kit car show in staffs today to get some ideas and materials.

Fair enough, pretty sure it would take more than half a day for me mind ;)

What type of wheels do you have on the way?

Great project mate. I need some tips from you about saving money though. Imagine that, a Scotsman asking for tips on being frugal. :D

Blimey havent updated this thread in a while! I spent the last 2 years getting married and all that palava, so the MX5 sadly got a tad neglected :(

Its been cleaned up, and surprising it came up quite well, and despite pretty much standing out in the open for much of 2011, underneath its bloody solid, one small patch of rust on the quarter has appeared. but its surface stuff.

Ive since added a mohair glass roof and further tarted the interior up. And added a Eunos rear panel, which really looks good I think its looking rather good for a 17 year old car :)

Ive fallen back in love with it, and im planning to do a few more mods before my newborn arrives in Aug. Ive got a set of newish suspension to go on, GV Lip and a ducktail bootlid. I was going to SC it eventually, but I think power wise its still ok, I wont have mega money to spend for the next few years, so I may just source a MK2.5 VVTI engine, which Ive seen go for £300 or so, and that will take it to 150 or so bhp, which aint bad for a diddly car! Ive also got some new door panel and electric windows on the way. Ive added Power steering to it, which is gay but it does make parking easier!
