I dunno, I get the feeling if you're sending 14m of coins around in a single transaction, you have a lot of them to play with. Probably wont even miss it.

Is there an easy to follow guide anywhere that explains how to get started with bitcoin. I just can't figure it out.

You are too late to the game, it really is just a waste of time at this point. GPU power cannot compete with the cheap ASICs out there and end up costing money due to the number of people doing it and power required to run the cards.

There is a crypto currency section of the forum i believe. Worth reading up on it just to get a better understanding of what the future of money could be (not how to obtain money but rather how it is kept and traded) but not really worth investing any money into it at this point.

Yeah, I figured that was probably the case. I was thinking more about getting a bitcoin wallet(?) setup incase I want to use it to make purchases online. Not expecting to wake up with a possible £14,000,000 in my wallet :P

Checked my wallet for the hell of it, didn't expect anything only to find someone on the 19th of April stuck a coin (£338) in it, then took straight out. Not sure how they did it as it's MY wallet and only I'm supposed to have access to it.

Isn't it the case that the more you find, the more difficult they are to find?

Yep, the idea is to make it impossible to devalue the currency.

There was a very nice article in the London Review of Books recently (URL below) that touched on all the issues mentioned so far in this thread. Good reading especially for those who think Bitcoin is much different to other major currencies (other than the absence of a state backer/central bank, which is by design).

Responding to this thread would also be the last thing on my mind if £14m suddenly appeared :D

TBH "look at this number of bitcoins that's magically appeared in my wallet" isn't something I'd post in a public forum in the first place. Someone somewhere has lost that many bitcoins and now they're got an idea where they've gone!
