Hotmail seems to have sent everyone on my contact list a clickable link..
I was fast asleep recovering from Friday nights hangover.
Hopefully everyone is awake enough this morning not to click it.

It's a pretty dormant account and have not used it (other than import of messages through windows Live)
I have not entered that address in any websites requiring email for a long time.

And as far as I am aware, have not been on any dodgy sites lately either!
Anyone else effected by this or know how that is likely to have happened.
Account hack?

TrendMicro housecall now running.
That's my Sunday morning taken care of then. :(

i get a few messages from 2 of my friends like this.

one knows about them and has asked people not to click on the link but my other friend does not now how it is happening and has changed his password and all seems quite now.

how are they doing this without the persons msn account ?

more than likely yeah, account hack, i get loads of junk spam from my friends old emails every week.

just go in and change ya password for something dastardly impossible to guess lol

I got a spam email from a friends hotmail account yesterday. Said it was from 2kgames but the body text, and a link contained within, looked somewhat dodgy to me and my mate never sent it.

It is a dastardly impossible one to guess ( I think anyway) random letters and numbers, nothing to do with birthday, age, name of pet, family or anything like that

Same thing happened to me

Sent out a link to my address book to some dodgy russian software download site. It had no subject so hopefully it was seen as spam and only got as far as most peoples junk folder

Changed my password since and hopefully that will be it

Happened in the wee hours of saturday morning

Tried running any other programs to check, for example www.malwarebytes.org and then something to find root kits, I tend to use something called combofix.

Most hotmail "hacks" tend to have occurred in the past, password stolen then weeks to months waited before using the account from a remote location. I once spent hours cleaning a friends machine just for it to send spam the next day and never went away until I changed his password on hotmail, just like others suggested.

Phone is never out of my sight, can't see how that can have been compromised.

Malwarebytes full scan...

I'm coming to the conclusion that it is, as said, more of a hack to my hotmail account rather than a PC infection.

Malware could have got your password then deleted itself. I would change passwords for paypal, email or anything just incase.

My friends constantly have this, and then the other day I too had it and had to change my password. Very annoying. I kept sending out emails about a homeopathy website..
