Won a R9 290X - Need a budget build around it

Hi all.

I recently won a Gigabyte R9 290X (I know, how lucky!?) and I need to build a budget system around it.

My current system is Shuttle SX58J3 with an i7 950 (socket 1136), Radeon 7850 2gb, 8GB RAM and HDD.

I'll move the HDD and RAM to the new setup and I was thinking of getting the following...

i5 Haswell 4570 socket 1150
ASUS B85M-E socket 1150 mATX motherboard
Aerocool Dead Silence case
Coolermaster GM series 650W PSU

Now I know you're all going to start screaming at me to get a K chip but I'm already at the peak of my budget. I want a mATX case because I live in a small apartment and that motherboard is cheap and has PCI-E 3.0 and enough front USB 3.0 ports that I need.

I'm concerned that the 650W PSU may not be enough but I've heard as long as I have at least 600W and not overclocking, then I should be able to power the R9 290X and the rest of the system.

I also know you'll scream at me to get a SSD and I certainly will but not just yet (I'm very limited by my budget).

Does anyone think my build list is sufficient? I'm not trying to create a beast, just trying to get a good build from my budget which is already over what I had hoped.
 
Are you building a new system and adding it to your other system or basically building one new system ? If you are building a new system why don't you sell the parts of the old system and give yourself a larger budget to play with and then you can add a K CPU and other things you may require to build a better system.
 
What mobo do you currently have?

I would keep what you have, maybe get a cooler and OC the 950, it's still a good Cpu.
 
Sorry I should have mentioned before, the Shuttle SX58J3 is quite a unique little thing. It has it's own size of motherboard and even though the small case can take Mini ITX mboards, the board it comes with isn't of any regular size so it can't be moved. I will be selling the Shuttle SX58J3 with its case and i7 950. The PSU inside the Shuttle is a very small 500W thing. The case absolutely can't hold a standard ATX PSU.

My budget is about £300 but with the list I mentioned above, it's about £350 already (but I'm ok to spend that much and no more).

I am essentially building a new system and just keeping moving my HDD and RAM to the new build.

The 950 chip is good but it's socket 1366 and this motherboard can't be transferred to other cases as this case literally can not even hold the R9 290X in it let alone power it with the 500W that is specially designed to fit it.

I think it's easier for me to upgrade and sell on the Shuttle SX58J3 with its motherboard, PSU and the i7 950 and Radeon 7850 can be sold separately.

Your initials are KH? :) Think I know where you won it

I don't think selling it as you said above would work, not many people would buy a case + mobo but no CPU etc combo

Haha, yep that's me! Lucky sod aren't I!

But anyway, forget that old system, it's all being sold and just the Ram and HDD is staying.

Can anyone comment on the build I wrote in bold above? Does it seem a decent build?
