i am using windows xp home sp2, but when i boot up it displays the windows xp page and then reboots and keeps doin this, i have tried last known good configuration and it just does the same and also with safe mode.

i have tried loadin on xp again and get a bsod 50 when it examines the hard disc and also when i press r to try and repair i get the bsod 50 again,

I tried it with an win 2000 disc and when it tries to examine the hard drive it give me an ntoskrnl.exe error message

this occured when i was deleted my tempory internet files and my computer crashed so i rebooted and the problems occured.

I have also tried putting the hdd into another machine as a slave drive but it comes up with either of the 2messages.

Is there anyway in which to solve this or is the hard drive screwed as i need to get some data off the drive.

It sounds as if the hard drive is probably on its way out but that doesn't mean you can't get the data off it, try using it as a second drive in a working computer as it should be able to read the drive. Good luck with that :)

Is it IDE or SATA? Have you made sure it is set up correctly in bios so that it won't boot from the (suspected) damaged hard drive. I'd still persevere trying this for a while as it ought to be the easiest and surest way to get your data off the drive.
