Won't POST, upgrade time?

Well my faithful rig appears to have given up at last, today I got an overclocking failed message so I tried to restore to default settings. Then the PC froze, tried rebooting and then nothing would happen at all, no POST, no BIOS and the lights on my keyboard/mouse won't even turn on. Any suggestions as to how to get into the BIOS? And before anyone shouts check the PSU I have and it works. So unless anyone can think of a solution I guess its Sandybridge time.

Have you reset the CMOS by taking the battery off the board and moving the necessary
jumpers on the board?

Tested the PSU by putting it in a different rig, that draws a bit less power I guess but it still has a 5870 and a bunch of HDDs. I admittedly haven't tried replacing the battery. Have reset the CMOS.

The "overclocking failed message " normally comes when the CPU fan fails so I'm wondering if the CPU has overheated.

Check the CPU fan still works by connecting in directly to the PSU (rather than via Motherboard) using a Molex to 3-pin conversion cable, then unplug both the 24 and 4/8 pin ATX connectors. Switch off the PSU from main. Jump start the PSU by inserting a small wire between the green pin on the ATX power supply and any black pin. Switch on PSU which should then kick into life. If the fan doesn't spin then you have a good clue as to what's happened.

The fan still works but I'll see if the cooler has come loose or something, if it is down to the CPU overheating I suppose that should fix it.
