I never really thought about it before I got my little scooter thing. I was playing around with it, and the 'village busybody' came and told me that they'd maid an official complaint about it.
I know its not 'road legal', but I was only just testing it up and down my quiet cul de sac a couple of times to test out my adjustments to the carb. Now I can understand that perhaps its a bit noisy. It sounds pretty much like a lawnmower. However her husband has a massive harley. And I can tell you, when he starts that up for his sunday morning ride, the whole village knows about it.
So basically, I figured fine. If thats the way you want to play it, I'll get myself a legal toy and I shall make twice as much noise with it.
Plus I'm fed up of sitting in traffic, and just want a bit of a thrill.
You do before I can do the full test. Not sure about CBT.
The direct access course I'm donig is costing £600. That includes everything. Cost of tests, training, hire of equipment and bike, insurance etc.
They gave me a Hazard Perception practice DVD and booked the theory test for me. Then on the 13th I begin my proper training.
13th (Thurs) is a whole day training and the CBT on a 125. Then friday is a half day training on a 125, then Saturday, sunday monday are all half days training on a 500cc motorbike. Then Tuesday is the test.
If the worst happens and you fail (I'm sure you won't) what happens then? Do they put you back in for it and you take it on their bike at a later date?

I went for a quick training session a few weeks back, and although I'd never riddena proper motorbike before, I'd picked it all up in a hour. They said I wouldn't have any problems. Fingers crossed.

I picked up the gears in about an hour on the roads, i had never been on a geared bike before and went out on my 125 on my 17th birthday and had no problems at all, its not hard at all! A car was more difficult when I was learning I found.
Congrats on passing the theory btw Yet another biker to be soon added to the fleet!

As for bike gears - they are much easier to get to grips with than a car, mostly because you arent trying to get a ton of metal to gain momentum!
Re my other thread, I'm having to go through all this again even though I passed my bike test in 1990 becuase they lost the entitlement during a license change. Anyway, theory done today, CBT on saturday and test booked for 14th July, so hopefully back on a proper bike with plenty of decent weather left!
Bought myself a little TW125 to potter about on (because we needed a 2nd form of transport). Its hilarious - about as much power as hampster generates in a wheel, with a huuge rear tyre that makes it look like it should be in a circus. Still, its a 4 stroke so economy is great and it sounds ok. Best thing is I bought it for £800 and the shop I bought it from have written on the invoice that they will give me the same back for it if I upgrade within 6 months, so cant go wrong really.
