Woo Hoo

I am/might be trying to get another 260 so :p

:/

So what're you running at the moment?

Due to mobo/case limitations I will only be able to fit three cards in so will only be a minor upgrade, probably leaving me with ~30kPPD, but it'll replace a dual-slot card so I'll be able to fit in a fourth single-slot one when I come across one.
The GTX260s aren't in my bang for buck bracket yet - I reckon on the 216 core ones being maybe a 50% improvement over a 8800/9800GT, and yet second-hand they're over twice the price. Plus they're all dual-slot.

Dammit, I want to get back folding :D but I'm not going to sacrifice my laptop to it, I like it too much.

Just thought you should see what a system with 3 GTX285's can do:

Any idea why your rig with 3 x GTX295's is getting creamed by this one?

I reckon a rig like yours should be capable of around +90k

I don't understand why your only achieving around 40/50k........

Are you using all six GPU's?
&
Optimised Apps from the Lunatics?

The only reason I ask is because when my Hybrids go in tonight - my rig will be putting yours to shame (on output) if you don't get it sorted.

If you are the person that keeps outbidding me on the GX2's

If you see anything interesting re seti and the 480's post the links here as there will be others that might find it handy...

Got what i want for now if you keep an eye out for quidzin! you know its me :D

You'll need to be quick seems like TBag's buying the worlds supply of CUDA capable cards ;) :D

lol i wish, if only i could get 3 x 295s all the same brand i would be a happy cruncher, but settled for 3 260's with 216 cores each for 158 each didnt seem to bad, i think we need to figure out a system that reduces the risks of us bidding against each other on selected e sites....wouldnt want to put my foot in it when out shopping :D

I've been looking at that 1 aswell. I'm not certain but i think (or i hope) that the average still has a way to go as it still seems to be going up all be it slowly.

Its using all 6 cores but it's not running optimised yet as i wanted to get it all settled in before playing as i've been getting quite a few BSOD's which wont of helped the average as it has been down several times for upto 12-13Hrs whilst i've been @ work etc. These crashes seem to have been sorted touch wood so we'll have to see how it goes. Having said that yours will still probly pound mine and as for TBags well enough said ;)

Running what's in my sig but could fit 4 in here if I water cooled em all I think/maybe :D

Maybe i should just get 2 295's

What's your opinion on the X58A-UD3R? How is it o/c-wise? Might pick me up one tomorrow :D

The Omni coolers should be single-slot, but you'll need to take a hacksaw to the PCI bracket as that remains dual-slot. Unless of course it can be unscrewed and replaced with a single-slot bracket?

The board is good better than my EVGA it has plenty of options in the Bios to keep me happy and has been stable when i get enough cooling to the CPU @ over 4Ghz :D

Thats what I have done.

Problem with the Omni is is unlikely to be better than custom and is actually looking to be more expensive.

Thickness is key if the pcie slots are not double width apart.

I know for sure EK full cover blocks are too thick, but the Aquagrafx 295 block is thin as thin can be.

Well Reaver - not using the optimised apps will have significant impact on your RAC especially with 3 GTX295's - also watch your temps when you do start to use the opt apps.

On a plus side - I just put the first Hybrid in and the GTX275 & GTS250 are being utilised :D

Under Full Load (with SETI opt apps):

GTX275 @ 62c
GTS250 @ 58c

Now for the second Hybrid & the GTX 260 (fingers crossed the PSU don't go POP!!!)

Happy Days :D :D :D

Well done loudbob glad they worked as we all hoped....my dummy plugs work a treat too, game in post this afternoon.
I know it takes a while for averages to settle out but i am concerned that mine aren't climbing as i expected, all machines at full pelt optimized and a full load of wu's, when anyone has a few minutes spare could they look over the machines and see if something doesn't seem right.
Much appreciated as allways :)

Toxic

From the link I posted above - you can see what a rig with 3 x GTX285's can produce.
Yours will be less due to running Win7 - but at the mo, yours is a lot less.
See how things pan out in a few days - give it a chance to rattle through some work.

The GTX260 rig should settle around 15k (I think).

Dunno about the 480's - but as your not running with them yet......

Well......

I tried & tried & tried & tried.......

I just can't get my rig to post with all three Graphics Cards installed.

2 x GTX275/GTS250 Hybrids & 1 x GTX260.

As the rig has ran with 3 x GTX260's 24/7 full load no problem - I can only assume that the PSU can't handle the increased drain due to the new cards.

Can anyone else suggest anything? or do you concur?

I don't want to purchase a new PSU and then find out it makes no difference.

Or, should I settle with what I have and sell the GTX260?

Possibly..
Have you worked out the draw on the cards (3 x 260) and then compared it to the spec of the hybrids. It's the amps they pull on the 12V rails that are the critical bit..

Thanks for that loudbob, not sure what to suggest about your non posting machine unless there is a way you can hook up a second power supply to the 260 if you have a spare one to see if it is the psu ??? :)

After having a good long think over os and output and especially looking at that link of the 49000 average output tri 285 on xp i think i will wait untill the weekend, drain the present cache and give windows xp a try. On the whole looking at like systems that have xp and w7 installed theres definately a marked increase in output on xp based machines. Seeing as that machine does nothing but crunch it cant hurt, have all but give up on gaming (untill dead rising2 comes out) so if it works well will do the same on other rigs....:)
