We've got engineered oak in quite a bit of our house, make sure you get solid underlay, we got talked into flexible and while it feels a bit softer underfoot it makes it move when you walk on it so you get squeaks which is a bit annoying.

Also you have to be super careful about any water getting on it as if anything gets underneath it goes funny really quickly, in hindsight i wish we'd just got a decent laminate like karndean as it'd have been much tougher and looked just as good.

We've had a bit of a leak by our front door and it's made it go really funny so that section is going to need replacing as by the time you realise there's been a leak it's already ruined.

Not relevant really but we had oak flooring, a radiator leaked, the floor buckled and the sofa got lifted about 3 feet in the air.
