WOOD workstation project

Why on earth does that PSU need a C19 power cable?! Your common or garden kettle will run up to 3000W over a kettle lead - admittedly it's not identical to a C13 PC lead but that's only a temperature tolerance.
Actually, no it won't. Or at least, it shouldn't, be used for a 3000W load.

The C13/14 is only rated to 10A (as is the C15/16 high temperature varient).

As it's a 1200W PSU that can be used at 110V, the C13/14 would be outside of spec.

Also, using a C19 plug guarantees people won't plug in the wrong, lower rated cable.

How many people really look at a power lead they've dug out of a drawer before shoving it in?

@MAYHEM-MODZ

I get that it's sponsered build, but stick to forum rules (and I think we're all aware of the brand :P )
I'm also guessing they were referral links, which is also not allowed

That could be more of a fair point than I realised...come to think of it, most kettles for a while have been hardwired to the base with a different connector between base and kettle.

Still well in spec at 10A though....

...Ahh, so it's all our American friends' fault then, I can live with that ;)

It does have a certain cool factor though. Perhaps it's just reminiscent of old-school ludicrously inefficient servers I no longer have to lug into people's server rooms. I shall try to stop derailing the timber-lust now :D

>>>>>>>>IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
I don't care about the stupid rules of this forum. With my work I make this forum get thousands of views and consequently a lot of money, even though I do a hard job filming, photographing and wasting important time for this site,I am not allowed to earn a few miserable euros from my work.I am sorry for my followers who have also spent many nice words on my work that I have deeply appreciated, but I feel unfairly offended by the administrators of this forum. All of this is deeply unfair, if my links are not restored as soon as possible I will delete all my work and all other topics from this forum, to never return, this is a promise, I will not respond to any replies.

I like the way you have used a minimum of tools.
Many years ago I made a coffee table with the only tools I had - a mini-hacksaw, Stanley knife, protractor, pot of glue and sandpaper. I guess it showed me that you don't need an huge workshop full of tools to make stuff. These days I'm lazy and have that workshop, but really appreciate what you have done here. It's fantastic.
Sorry about the mods. I have no idea what that is about, but you know mods on all forums tend to follow the rule book as if their life depended on it. Your work is unique and I don't see why it should affect OCUK in any way, other than to possibly boost sales. But that's just me.

when I assembled this power supply I was also amazed by the choice in the power connector, only the powermac g5 dual and quadcore use this type of input, I have no idea what prompted the designers of be quiet to adopt this, I will ask my marketing contact and maybe I will write it here in response.

thank you very much, I think you understood the true essence of the project, I refer to the old school, when modding was done with basic tools and with a lot of sweat, only this makes a pc mod a unique and unrepeatable work, today with laser, cnc and 3d printing you can replicate a pc mod in large numbers but in this way it is no longer a unique work, but a series construction.. and for me this is not good, it is not pc modding.
