wool or synthetic carpet

Looking to buy a new carpet for our bedroom. Want something that's thick and soft underfoot.

Never bought carpet before, I don't know how to adult really. Do I want a wool, polyamide (that's just nylon, right?) or an 80:20 blend?

I think I want wool because if perceive it to be better, but I'm not sure why.

I find a blend better, wool alone packs down, the blend has some bounce to it.

Blend for me as well (that's what we chose for our house). Slightly easier to clean than all wool and doesn't have the sheen some synthetic carpets have, may well be a tad cheaper than all wool.

In my house I went for 80:20 blend with a good underlay.

+1 for decent underlay, i spent more on underlay than carpet and it was well worth it
