Well i just went silly with the card :D

Bought a sigma 10-20mm HSM, nikon 55-200mm AF-S, Hoya 52mm CP, copy of Corel PSP Photo XI.

Might even get a nikon SB-400 as well, trying to decide if i would actually use it.
Would the sb-400 be good for night time photography of cars?

Try it without the flash first, use a tripod instead.

I use long exposures and a tripod at the moment, was wondering if a decent flash unit would make things easier?

Also, if using a remote control for shutter release...how does bulb mode work? Press once for open shutter and again to close the shutter? Or does it work like the camera button, and you have to hold it down?

Do not get the SB400, it's frankly not enough of an improvement over the built in, spend the extra for the SB600, then you get remote mode as well, well worth it....

Do you really find the D40's flash lacking enough to buy a Speedlight? What sort of things do you use it for?

Shoulda bought the VR version of the 55-200 too :o

Well after thinking about it, i don't really use the flash that much anyway, i don't do much indoors photography. So can't feel that spending almost £100 on an external flash is needed.

It was cheap, and the VR version isn't out yet. The VR version would have probably cost me £150 more...

Once you try a proper flash you'll realise just how useless the inbuilt one is for anything other than basic fill flash...
