Word of mouth?

my mum got a quote for a service.

when she got the bill it was almost double iirc.

she just kicked up a fuss about the original quote, and got it at that price :)

Well I have accepted that I probably won't get a new bumper and my original one for the quoted price but at the very least I should get a brand new one fitted and my original bumper for £352.54! As I said, repairing my original bumper was their mistake so why should I be expected to pay £287.21 to get it back when I could have had it for free as it was mine in the first place?

Unfortunetly, without written proof of a quote for work to be done, I don't think you can legally hold your repaired bumper without paying the repair bill. They could insist on keeping it but if they do, I wouldn't get the new bumper fitter at that dealership.

I think the moral of this story is that word of mouth means nothing, and to always get written proof.

Sorry.
