Word problems-pls help

Hi,
A friend sent me this- can anyone pls help?


On word pad the margin lines are down to a page width
of about 5 inches
It is frozen at that and refuses to move.
I tried help lines but to no avail, so I figured the only person with enough knowledge to help me, is yourself.

Have you tried the drop down menu -> Page Setup -> Margins?

If page setup/margins doesn't work, has the document format been protected? I'm not sure if this protection includes margins but worth trying 'unprotect' (under 'Review' ribbon in word 2007).
