Taking the interwebz by "storm"

I don't really like word based things but found it interesting

Just one a day, no constant spam, no pay to play etc
Just a simple daily challenge with some luck involved.

I managed to get the word wrong today by not spotting a more likely word, I had the last 4 letters and didn't think to check every possible first letter combo and went for the first that was possible. Doh!

I had the first two confirmed and one of the last 3 letters after 3 attempts. I was going through combinations and literally could not come up with any plausible words so I thought I would reuse letters 1 and 2, reuse the letter I knew was one of the last three so I reused a letter, I picked the O, and boom it was the actual word

I'm not sure if my strategy of trying to get plenty of letters over the first 2-3 by not reusing them even if they are correct is the best or not
I suppose it depends if you want to solve it within 6, or go for the lowest number per win

Opportunity for someone to create lewdle I guess, with just "naughty" words and slang in it

I mean the actual word for the day has plenty of normal usage

1st word I tried yesterday had 5 different letters - 3 correct letters in the right place

tried it again today - no correct letters

Thats the luck part

The possible words are around 2500 so you have in theory a 1/2500 chance of getting it right first time

Does anyone know if there's ever plurals?

I suspect not
They are supposed to be dictionary words, having been filtered down to roughly 2500 commonly known ones from the 12000 actual 5 letter words

Ive been using space last couple of days
Theory that A and E are highly common, and that SPC also quite common

Wondering if zygon could be the word to start with if you want to play hardmode

Are there only 2,500 five letter words?

NO about 12000 but only 2500 are common usage which they filtered it down to

5 i just had to try the same word as a few days ago as I had 4 letters the same, it wasnt though

I had first letter and 2 of others but couldnt make the link until 3rd attempt when i picked up another letter

4 attempts had secured 3 letters, just bad luck on initial words
5th attempt i tried something and found a new word lol, luckily it was right bar the first letter and that gave me the clue I needed

I will post my new word tomorrow to see if it was just me who had never heard of it!

I managed to have all bar 4th letter on 3rd try, picked the wrong uncommon word instead of a far more obvious one that was the correct answer

i had 2 letters in the wrong places by attempt 3, with 14 different letters used up

I could only think of one word using the 2 letters I had and three more, boom correct

NYT have to fundamentally change something if they think anyone is going to pay to do this, plus as always copy sites/aps already exist
The only other option I see is they advert the hell out of it, so they draw in revenue that way
