Work Clear out, any bits worth saving?

Have you got more than one of the 2600 routers? It's just I am actually doing a Cisco course and would love to get my hands on two decent routers and a switch for a basic home test rig. I know they're relatively cheap of eBay, but if you're willing to post I'm willing to pay, plus a bit extra for your trouble of course. Or failing that I can book a courier collection at my cost, no probs :)

As above, 3560 PoE and the 2610 are about the only things anyone would really be interested in (HP server may get some interest). :)

I think the 280R is EoL, probably heading towards EoS.

enigmo - why don't you just use GNS3?

Well, as part of my course I have access to PacketTracer which seems to do all I need virtually, and I do get the occasional chance to get my hands on actual kit, but that's once in a blue moon. I guess as a natural hardware kinda guy the thought of having a few bits of my own actual kit to break/fix would teach me more that would stick in my head. I've not looked at GNS, though, but will, ta :)

GNS3 lets you use a shedload of images which is nice, although it's a bit tricky to get set up properly at first. It's a shame that they don't emulate more recent platforms. You can integrate with VirtualBox which is nice as it makes testing a lot easier (plus you can add checkpoint firewalls and allsorts thanks to VirtualBox).

Unfortunately no simulator is likely to prepare you for some of the terrifying/downright odd problems you'll face in the real world but it's a start. :D Proper hardware is useful in that you can get familiar with ROMMON (make sure you do this, it'll save your bacon!). :)
