Work Email

It should be 100% work, most of the companies I've worked for policies against using it for personal reasons or at least thrown against the idea.

Where I'm currently working at the moment, the time and effort we (IT) have to spend because people have used their work e-mails for personal reasons is unbelievable. from spam, viruses to re-opening mail boxes etc.

Don't forget that companies have the right to monitor your emails, so why would you want to use it for personal reasons when hotmail/gmail is free and can be accessible from any device.

I've got friends from other departments/buildings who I'll send the odd social email to. The other 95% is just work-related.

During lunch break, I'll log onto Gmail and use that for relatives and friends not based at my work. We still use Internet Exploder 7, mind, so I have to view like the 2005 HTML version of Gmail lol.

true. as if having them monitored by Google/MS/NSA wasn't already enough.

100% work*. To echo others, why would you use it for anything personal?

* Although I would also include sending not strictly work related emails to colleagues under this.

Only used for porn and beheading videos which I can enjoy during my lunch breaks.

Some people say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I say it's our best tool for eviscerating the mentally challenged. ;)

I send the occasional email which is personal, usually its to my dad or something. If I'm emailing him at work there is a reason, I don't have alerts on my laptop for personal email (or phone) hence using work email as I have alerts.

Mostly hunting for freelance work and sorting out my new business start up.

And sending idiotic emails.

I'll be very glad when I'm out of the BS that is PAYE employment.

I own work so I use it for most things, emails come through to pad and phone so I mostly respond to clients pretty fast.

How do you use your work email? Do you use it for any personal stuff? How much?

Or do people keep them 100% work related.

I use it for some personal stuff - we used gmail, google hangouts at work and I don't really want to log off then log onto my personal account etc..

only use it for organising nights out, general banter with a group of friends at different companies in the city - really don't see the issue, they're on their work accounts too - obvs everyone knows the potential for monitoring and so all chat is kept work safe etc...

Mostly work (95% +), signed up for some Skyscanner alerts the other day to my work email. Hardly "personal" so couldn't care less if work decides to read them. They're generally fairly flexible anyway, so as long as it's not used for anything illegal, or immoral/NSFW.
