Work Email

our work emails are odd it seems if you have the same name you get the same emails, i get all the emails ment for a manager down in filton.

so purely work. I kep getting invited to nights out in bristol by he filton crew lol

I use it for some personal stuff, not much though and done on the assumption that it is archived and could be monitored. A former colleague used to have conversations like with like half a dozen people every day about personal matters via company email, then she left and carried on mailing some of us and her new address ended up getting blocked by the automatic spam filter she sent so many, lol :)

Nowadays with smartphones etc it is a lot easier to get personal emails without using the company network.

100% work & I disable email coming to my work issued phone when I'm not on duty. They don't pay me to answer emails out of hours...

I have gmail for anything else.

All work.

My phone is sat on the desk all day for checking my personal accounts, if I really need to reply to something beyond what a smartphone keyboard can do I have my tablet in my bag, I just don't see why I'd mix them. Even without the obvious privacy concerns if something were to happen tomorrow and I was no longer employed I wouldn't want stuff bogged down in an account I no longer have access to.

Why the hell would you use a work email address for personal stuff?

to e-mail friends etc... really don't see the big issue if you're sensible about it

I don't expect everyone to be checking their personal gmail accounts etc.. though I do expect that sending an e-mail on a Friday afternoon to a group of mates to arrange a beer or two will be seen if sent to work addresses.

]isnt that what your phone is for

e-mail is a bit more efficient when dealing with a group

-------------

beer?

whereabouts?

how about - (insert bar name)

not been there - where is it

(paste link)

I finish at 7 will meet you guys later

---------------

yes there is whatsapp but most people are sat in front of a computer, its easy to reply to an e-mail, its not necessarily as good to be back and fourth on your mobile while sat at your desk, not everyone necessarily checks their mobile

Phone goes ping, check message. Go for beers.

mail appears on the screen you're looking at all day, type, reply etc..

(my phone is on silent in the office and only checked occasionally, I'd much rather reply to a quick e-mail)

suppose its different with a place where not many people use computers. here if someone said ill email you about Friday night you'd think they were mad for not using Facebook or whats app
