Work Experience

i was asked to clean all the mice balls on my work experience, needless to say i found something else to do lol

I'm conscious of how I would feel in their shoes and I do my best to involve them in our work when they are here but their involvement is naturally limited.

Understandably, the nature of the placement is important. I was lucky enough to get a years placement doing highly technical and quite secretive work. Came with several NDAs though.

How is getting a youth to do a job you would have to do exploiting him. The O.P. has already said he would have to do it himself. The whole point of employing youths etc is to get them to do jobs for you to free up your time as the employer can be more productive. jesus christ i cannot believe you think he is being exploited what a wimp whinging git you are :p

I had work experience with the Council, they just gave me filing to do :(
I got bored very, very quickly. Most things ended up in the bin or shoved in any old folder.

So give him a rubbish job, but don't expect it to be done well ;)
 
I remember my work experience 10 years ago... I formatted floppy disks for an entire day on my first day... then I disposed of old 386 computers.. Was the most boring time of my life lol..
 
My work experience was awesome. Went to a theatre as a technician. Even with 3 different shows on during the week we still found time to play a theatre wide game of hide and seek, and laser tag in the auditorium. Technicians have it easy :D
 
I really hope he isn't making your coffee. I would of spat in it if I was a kid his age. Give him a proper job for god's sake.

besides as ive already said he was doing proper stuff yesterday.

I had my work experience at one of the large IBM plants in Greenock. Most people got fairly interesting jobs to go to, i got stuck on the Customer Relations section. Had absolutely nothing for me to do, showed me round their section. Large fancy offices for all the big customers to come to meetings, then they gave me a laptop and told me to browse the internet. Only good thing about it was they gave us all unlimited vouchers for lunchtime in their canteen and they had one freaking sweet canteen.
 
You paying him? I know you don't have to but if he does a good job would you? I got paid where I did work exp.
 
Work experience is a load a crap. Me and my mate ended up at a college...for work expereience :confused: . Only because the ones we picked originally were filled with "better" pupils but thats how it goes eh.

Soooo i got to spend a week at college going up n down classrooms on computer chairs,dropping the teachers milk out the window 6 floors up,throwing 6" nails around a woodwork class and generally being stupid.

Best week of my life tbh. :D
