1 - I was 17.
2 - No, it was perfect timing. I was at a point where I wasn't entirely sure what path I wanted to take and it gave me the opportunity to try some things out.
3 - No, I couldn't wait to do it.
4 - Yes. I did my work experience at the air traffic control tower at Belfast International which is something I was very interested in at the time.
5- Yes, I got a lot from it, ultimately deciding my career path.
6 - Yes, I've been doing it for 4 years now.

Yep, BA Engineering at Edinburgh airport
5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it?
Enjoyed it very much, 2 days with BA engineering, 1 day with airfield OPs, 1 day with ATC and on the last day I got a famil flight to Heathrow and back in the cockpt of a 757.
6 - Did it guide you into a career path?
Indeed. Currently 9 weeks into training with NATS. After numerous failed attempts and 1 successful (but cancelled) attempt at pilot sponsorships

1 - 14 or 15.
2 - No.
3 - It was compulsory.
4 - No.
5 - Yes, I suppose so. It was a good confidence building experience.
6 - No, not at all.

We had to, but that's not why I did it, I wanted to, too.

Nope, I did a stint with a building/construction company. I wanted to work in a shop that was miles away. I think I got what was left over after I'd dithered around trying to find something I *wanted* to do.
5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it?
Oh yes. I really enjoyed it, and I had a great time, as well as feeling like I'd actually helped the people I was working with in a tangible way.
6 - Did it guide you into a career path?
Nope, but I wish I had gone into that industry now.
 
We had work experience when we were about 14/15 I think, compulsory at our school. I wanted to do it at an engineering firm but I don't remember ever actually doing it.

Nope, because of it I hate the teacher who organised it to this day. It was the biggest waste of time ever. I worked with people who didn't have a clue about their own job trying to teach me architecture when I applied for computer related. The only computer in the company was on the lathe. I told them it was totally unsuitable before I even started there and the teachers response was litteraly "tough, you can't change it now"
5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it?
Not a thing, I nearly got suspended for going off on one at the teacher involved. I actually marched next door to the head masters office and made him listen to my grievence. I learned nothing and it was a total waste of time. The fact Im still bitter about it nearly 16 years later is perhaps an indication of just how pathetic an attempt to place me was.

Yes. I hate architects with more of a passion now :p

3 - Did you do it because you had to? Yes, tho i wanted to do it anyway!

4 - Did you do a WEX that you really wanted to do? Not really

5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it? Yeah, i actually learned lots about CAD! Just spent 5 days goign thro every training book i could find

6 - Did it guide you into a career path? Not at all... im not... creative enough for CAD i dont think... graphical side of anything finally got dull for me!

Yes, through connexions at school.

I did, worked at an internet cafe that I did gaming/level design at the weekends and sometimes after school.
5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it?
I did, a lot of gaming time :D
6 - Did it guide you into a career path?
Not right now, but it did make me think on what I wanted to do after school, however some of the choices I made for a level aren't the direction I have taken now.

That would be for my year 10(?) WEX, I've done some own motivated stuff since then (making wedding films, music video for a local band, helping with local feature films) which has helped me LOADS when applying for university.

5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it? It was enjoyable,
6 - Did it guide you into a career path? I'm still clueless.. and working at home on the farm ( Finished an apprenticeship though )

One of my many jobs is to organise WEX at the UHNS in Staffordshire and I personally think that students who have a 100% interest in the hospital should get the first crack.
eg One application today was :
What are your future aspirations?
To be a doctor or an air hostess:eek:
One Play Nurse rang me today to say she won't be taking any more WEX because she's fed up of girls coming to her who want to be hairdressers.
