Work issue, lunch breaks, would you be annoyed?

@Scam sorry for the huge necro but I was thinking about this today and it made me chuckle. Did you end up changing your swimming schedule? :D

Oh my that's hilarious - though to be fair I do have random thoughts like this all the time! :D

The solution to the OP seems simple, swim first and then eat lunch back at the office so he's available... but I'm sure someone's mentioned that, I CBA to read the whole thread! :p

lol what the heck!? :D

Funnily enough I still do go swimming, but since I only work in the office 3 days a week it makes it hard to get out more than once a week. I try for two, but sometimes it feels like I'm missing the social aspect of being in the office. (I actually enjoy being in the office unlike a lot of others post-COVID). It's nice to have lunch out with people etc.

So I tend to go swimming at around 1pm. It's noticeably quieter than say 12pm or even 1230pm. And means I'm just having a slightly late lunch, which I tend to do anyway. Sometimes if I'm busy at work and don't get out until 1.30pm or am a bit delayed I end up having lunch at like 3pm which is weird, but fine really. So alls good in the hood. Thanks for asking haha *backs away from strange man...* :p

I was on a call today at 12ish and someone was eating a sandwich, they said they were eating now so they could go swimming later and I just burst out laughing in front of everyone. It was a pre-sales call too with people I hadn’t met before that I was trying to sell things to

That’s the magic of the forums peeps, you never know when you might pop up in another members thoughts!

lol @Worthy you should have told them to be careful their boss doesn’t get annoyed with them being OOO mid afternoon :p

I work with a lot of people in California, one guy who’s just joined our team over there is a super early riser to the point he’s messaged me on Teams at like 1pm (5am PST!) and I’m like “dude I’m about to hit the pool/gym/have lunch!” Can’t win :o

My thoughts are you are there and getting paid to do a job and do it well. If they need you around those core hours you should always be available. People are expected to lunch 12-2 I think!? So these important people who needed you expect you to be there to do your job and you weren't a couple of times. Change the swim to lunch time and swim fasted and suck up how busy it is or go before work or go after work. You swimming is not their issue and it should not affect the running of the company in any way. It's a pain for you but you're there to work and have lunch not enjoy yourself too much.

Edit, see you found a solution. 1pm is a nice compromise.
