Well done!
I've read previous threads about your situation and your look forward attitude is somewhat refreshing. Congrats on the full time!

Nice one Malc mate :D

Well done malc30!!! That's great news with the way things are.

I got turned down by McDonald's.

Now been signed over to a "training" scheme, i.e the governments way of saying "hey this guys long term unemployed, lets get him off the unemployed list and give him "training" so he doesn't ruin our already fiddled unemployment numbers"
EDIT: Sorry for the rant :p

New Deal? :p

Pretty much yea. There's nothing new about it, people still won't employ me through there own blind prejudice against the unemployed. I needed that time away from education/work to sort myself out.

Nice one mate, a big middle finger up to the current economic climate, and all to those who are using it as an excuse for everything and anything work related. You're showing them how it's done =]

well done dude!!

I too got my contract converted to permanent recently. Feels pretty good especially considering it was up at the end of the month.

If you want to see the goverment get worried over unemployment figures July 7th is the big one :p (Uni graduation wave).

I'm desperate for work, I'm not a lazy scrounging ******* like some of you will undoubtably call me, I apply for all advertised jobs as longs as the hours aren't under 8 per week.

I am now setting up work trials, which will in no way guarantee me any work after the trial, but will effectively mean I'll be working all week in a shop for £60 a week.

EDIT: Sorry for the rant :p

I'm a general yard worker for Arriva. They are always looking for bus drivers.

If you've had a drivers license for over a year you could apply.

Good pay for sitting on your backside all day.

I remember seeing the ads on the buses and thinking the pay sounded off (500+ a week?).

Congrats matey,

I am currently working at Ikea and have done for almost 6 months now,

They cant offer anyone a permanent contract though, Just keep getting monthly extensions,

For the next two weeks I am off though payed to my normal hours :)

Unfortunately it's taken me a long time ( 2 years) to slowly fund my driving, and my test is on the 9th of next month.

Congrats are in order. Tesco isn't going to go bust for a while yet. :)

Careful with bus driving offers chaps, they'll put you through your test in an automatic bus, this means you can't drive manual coaches, so if you fancy moving on you either need to do the test again in a manual or do LGV C to get rid of the automatic code on the D category.

I signed the contract & it just says Permanent & my hours, In the temp bit it says N/A as in not applicable ;)
I'm in, They have to drag me out the place kicking & screaming now :D

mine was the same, good luck though i know the management can be a right arse and its the workers and team spirit that make the place.

Been in work now for 6 Months with a start date of the 5th of December I got my Privilege card Tuesday & my letter about my shares & opt in etc
Nowadays going to work just feels normal & I am known as a Hard worker. + :p

Things I have bought myself since starting work include my Camper van which is Taxed & tested for the next 10 months & my 40inch HD which is Lush.
Worst thing about working is Paying Council tax & the best thing about working is the Community side of it. There's some Lovely people at work & we have a real nice atmosphere going.
The side benefit of the whole experience has been the effect it's had on my body, I work damn hard & although fit before the job I am Seriously fit now, Only yesterday somebody commented on how tight my arms looked & he wasn't Gay either. :p
Between my work & my allotment I have gotten myself into the best shape I've been since I got out of DC over 20 years ago.
Another benefit is how I feel inside, Hard to describe with my limited vocabulary but Righteous is a word that springs to mind.
I am now enjoying nigh on two weeks of paid holiday for the First time in my life & it feels damn good. :)

Thanks to All for the encouragement, Support & understanding over the years, I only wish I could explain how I got to this place openly without prejudice but that is not the World we live in.
Good Luck to you All.
