Work Lunches...

M&S have the best sandwiches and food out of every supermarket. I always go there for lunch.

Edit: Do you get any free sandwiches, if you do, I want to work there!?

Ive spent £3+ in M&S for sannies

Yeh on those horrific deli style ones that taste even worse than the standard ones!

A Pret sandwich can be had for about £3 so under £5 for a sandwich and a drink for under a fiver should be easy. Just don't get your drink from Pret as they are even more of a rip off than normal!

Get big bags of cheap pasta, lots of sauces and plastic forks from a supermarket. Cook enough to fill in two lunch boxes and you're covered for two days of the week. Change toppings/sauces for the next two days and repeat. You'll soon discover the savings. :)

3KG of dried pasta is £2.97 2 days worth of pasta sauce would be around (very very rough estimate £1.30). Plastic forks = 44p for 25.

1 day = (Pasta) 29p + (Sauce) 65p + (fork)~2p = 96p. This is far less than £5/day, and it gives you lots of room to include e.g. a multipack pack of crisps, drink if you so want it.

I've gotten into the habit of buying sandwiches from the local sarnie shop, ~£2 for a granary bun with salad and and filling.

Going to try and buckle down and make my own though. Reckon I can spend under £5 per week on food... something like a malt loaf for the week, bread and some meat/cheese/salad etc :)

Depends what you want I suppose, generally pre packed sandwiches taste awful IMO.

I normally spend about £2.50 or so from the bakery.

Hot sausage roll and a hot chicken tikka pasty.
Plus a cold fizzy drink.

I'll go to a local cafe with my other half and have lunch together once a week, I'll normally get a bottle of sprite, curly fries and a sausage toasty and it comes to about £5.

To the Butchers.
Buy a few slices of cooked meat.
To the Bakers.
Buy small loaf, muffin, and bottle of coke.
To the candle stick makers.
Just because there is one.
Back to the office.
Slice the small loaf in half.
Put the meat in the middle.
Scoff as your workmates look on in awe.

I take all my stuff to work,

loaf of bread £0.80
Block of cheese £1.50
Carton of ham £1.50
Bag of mixed salad £1.00
Packet spicy chicken £2.00

£6.80 per week.

buy a nice leather bag, and make your own sarnies. save a fortune.

remember £5 a day is 100 quid a month.

I work in a senior tax role for a large investment bank (2Vp), well past the higher tax limit, and i still take in my own sarnies.

In fact my boss who drives an aston martin, he takes his own sandwiches in. No shame in it my firend.

i do vary it though, som weeks ill take in

Batchelors Golden Savoury Rice or pasta.

cook the night before, 10 misn, then your good to go at work.

Yep, £2.99 for a sandwich, drink and choc\fruit\cake type thing.

Boots meal deal is only £2.99 outside london. Think it's £3.50 in london

I wish they would make it £3 though because I hate that 1p change I always get

Apologies for the bump-age.

Just found out that my new company have a free staff restaurant, which is quite unusual, and will save me a huge amount of money.

There was a free staff restaurant whilst I was working for a large oil company in London for a while, but that shut down in 1999.

:)

£5 a day for food

Get down asda.

a 500g (about 12 very large slices) pack of beef, pork, chicken, turkey is about £4 or $5 for the stuffing version. And is 100x better than the pre packed meat slice rubbish. Couple of packs of pita, jar of mayo, jar of mustard, cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce.
Sorted for a whole week for about £7.
