Hi everyone,

I'm new to this and just wondering if anyone can help me or give me advise on behalf of my partner...

He has recently just got a new job, and he can't seem to kill the nerves he gets running up to his shifts, before this job he worked for my Dad and he was fine, however my Dad's business didn't work out so he had to get another job.

He's fine on his days off, but on a night he goes very quiet and gets very nervous at the thought of having to get up the next morning to go to work. Some nights he doesnt even sleep much as the worry gets the better of him, he's tried Night Nurse which seemed to help a bit and now he's taking Kalms to see if that helps curve the nerves.

We've heard of social anxiety, which I believe is quite common, and thought it could maybe be that..?!

Does anyone else suffer with the same problem? Or maybe able to shed some light on how to get over this?

Thanks :-)

Strangely you've asked in the right place, I suffered the same thing and was diagnosed and treated for social anxiety with a psychologist. Have him go see his doctor for a referral.

I agree that it is an unusual reason to make profile on a mainly computing forum but ill go with it....

Does he feel like he can do his new job?

sounds just like stress

Needs nipping in the bud as it can get out of control where he won't want to go to work at all, to then staying at home. See a doctor but they will simply hand over drugs. The best bet is to go and see a councilor.

My sister had the same problem and is a lot better now

Thanks for your reply.

Are you any better now? If you don't mind me asking :)

Thanks very much, it seems like its very hard to find ppl nice enough to give you a sensible answer on here so thanks for your help :)

The last thing we want is it getting out of hand but wanted to find out if its something that just passes in time but we will seek medical help.

Thanks again

Yup, which is why I've worked for myself for 9 years never looked back. Couldn't hold down a job for long before because of anxiety etc. I didn't see a doctor, at least not properly - probablly the best thing to do though.

Its just stress. He's probably afraid that he will do something wrong and get told off by his boss.

Is he confident in what he does in the job? I.e. does he know what he is doing?
