Hey all, im doing some security work and have been asked to bring along my own pc, well id rarther build a brand new one and have anywhere between £400 (Sensible budget) to £600.

Not a lot but ive been out of the building scene for about 2 years and came back to find AMD look interesting now! So help needed

No monitor needed, would eb nice to overclock it a little but its a work pc s nothing special!

Os i have work copies, applications will be Visual Studio 2008, Visual Web Developer, Remote desktop...

Mainly coding and support based applications

I was looking at this motherboard instead as reviews and overclocking looked good, expecially seeming that the chip can go to 3.8 easily:

The Asus M4A785TD-V has better VRM cooling which will be important in the long term.

The motherboard has an 8+2 phase VRM design which is better for a quad core like the Phenom II!

Thanks for your help,

the items arrived this morning and were put together fairly quick,

Temperatures are at arround 22 degrees so extremely happy, going to overclock it tomorrow but soo far compiling and general use have been amazing

I would stay under 1.5V. The maximum safe temperature for a Phenom II X4 955BE is 62C IIRC.

Once you have got a stable overclock it would nice if you posted the results in this thread:
