Im having trouble accessing my network, all was fine before i went on holiday, i could share files between all the computers.

When i went on holiday i turned off the ADSL router (tompson speedtouch 570) on returning switch back on carried on using the internet on all machines, then had a notification to upgrade my mcafee firewall which i did. some time later i go to transfer some pictures and fine i can't get access:

Code:
\\Desktop is not accessible. You Might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found
So i'm assuming it's the firewall, but when i turn the firewall off it doesn't make any difference.

the set up is as follows:

speedtouch 570 connecting to the internet.
Desktop wired to speedtouch
Laptop wireless connection
PC402a wireless connection.

All can access the internet, and all are in the workgroup Mshome - i can see the computers "view workgroup computers" in my network places just when i try to go into them i get the network path was not found error.

Can anyone help me out with this, it's such a long time sice i set the network up!

Try running the network setup wizard on all 3 machines. Its in My Network Places under "Set up a home or small office network". Change the workgroup to something other than MSHOME, try MYLAN or something.

TBH I always had trouble trying to get this to work properly, so I just spent £100 on a cheep little rig, found a cheep copy of Windows 2000 advanced server and did everything through active directory...MUUUUUCH easier, plus, I get to lock my brothers account when he decides his going to nick all our bandwidth :D

Try using the IP address of one of the other machines instead of the name (with and without the firewall). Hostname 'discovery' can be a bit picky at times.
