working 2 to 10

I've tried it for a few weeks once, while alternating with the 6-2 day shift. Both 'blew' immensely. But if the money's needed, you do your time. While busily looking for more suitable hours!

It's not something I'd ever go back too though.

I've been on shift work for the past 13 yrs and we do a rotating 6-2 / 2-10 every other week, and even after all this time i dont like the 2-10 part, as i dont get to spend much time with the missus as she leaves for work before i get up and is in bed when i get home. :(, plus miss a lot of time with the kids as well.
There are good points in that you can have a lie in and spend time chilling in the garden in the summer, no point this year so far though..

Much prefer 6-2 to be honest because you get most of the work done early and i get home in time to pick the kids up from school and spend time with the family. I think a rotating shift is the best solution because you get the best of both then, could'nt do permanent lates would hate it.

When I first started on the Meat & Fish counter I did 2-10s and my god it nearly killed me. Through sheer boredom!

I have worked 2-10s doing manual work and it was OK, just seemed to last longer than say 9-6.

As Penski has said the worst part is it royally screwing up the day. Although not as bad as the 10-7s I used to do :(

I work 2pm till 10 one week, then 6am till 10 the next. It's not a bad shift at all. Consider yourself lucky you are not on early shifts.
