Working dilemma...

hopefully it will the only down side appears to be that I am going to be without pay for a good few months and just before christmas as well.

Guessing you liked what you saw when you took a look around?

Congrats, hope it all goes well :).

I did indeed, the process that they put me through was long and drawn out, I ended up doing lots of interviews and last weekend was spent creating a 3 year plan to present to them at 7am monday morning. Even though they approached me they made me work for it.

sounds like a no brainer.. a change would stimulate you , earn more money, look better on your CV, challange you

do it !

Company loyalty rarely exists. I've met many many people that are absolutely loyal to the company they work for, only for the company to just slap em in the face. Some people just like to learn the hard way ;)

Ultimately business is business.

As many people have already said, the business may turn around and slap you at some point. I'd take it and enjoy everything that comes with it!

How come?

Long story short, my contract holds me to ransom. Mainly to do with travel arrangements into town. Basically I have to pay them back the cost of 1 year season ticket which is 3k. So I pay that and then have to work a month in hand with the new employer.

Do it. Loyalty counts for nothing in the end. If your current compnay ever runs into financial difficulties and have to get rid of people, your loyalty will count for nothing. Providing the new job is euqlly secure, I don't see what yo have to lose.

It may be a bit late, but is it worth asking your current company to cover some of the cost? Maybe as a one off 'golden hello' or similar?

Try the sympathy vote.

I am going to have a chat and see what I can arrange, getting a loan to cover me over the 3 months would be another option if my savings doesn't cover the costs, which to be fair it should.

I am going to offer them my time over christmas anyway (normally I take 3 or 4 weeks off) to see if I can bridge the gap a little.

Either way when the pay packets start rolling in paying off any debt I have build up over the period shouldn't be a problem.

Do it.

But leave on good terms - always an option you could go back if things dont work out. Careful not to make up excuses now for leaving that might come back to bite you if you did need to try to go back.

Sounds like you have hit the ceiling at your current place and new job with a higher ceiling is on the table.

Easy choice?

Never an easy choice mate, I love this place. But a choice that I had to make to progress and move along. Your right though it should have been an easy choice.
