working for blizzard

The gaming company I work for has core hours, 10am till 4pm, you make up the rest of the 8 hour day how you want. I do morning gym, get in to work at 8 leave at 4. Others prefer to sleep in, but I like the extra time in the afternoon especially during the summer.

what about lunch ?

unfortunately for me i need to count 30 minutes unpaid work AT WORK in my day

I remember someone on here works/worked for Blizzard as a GM for WoW, seem to remember he really liked it.

Is this seen to be good these days?
In the entertainment industry? Yes, yes it is.

As an aside, I'm pretty good mates with a couple of ex-Blizzard guys from the in-game GM and customer service teams. They both speak highly of their time there so if anyone is sincerely thinking about applying and has the skills, go for it! :p

I have the same 10-4 core hours deal as someone posted earlier (possibly same company?).

Depends a lot what sort of title you're working on. If it's a boxed console franchise with an annual release cycle, you're gonna be putting in a hell of a lot of crunch. I'm not so I don't crunch often and it's not that bad when it does happen.

The gaming industry isn't all stupid hours!

Edit : I have a 5 minute cycle to work, and come home for my hour lunch too :)

Without a doubt it's one of the best industry's to work in, especially rewarding when you're working with people who all love what they do and don't just see it as a 'job'. The amount of people that go through uni learning animation or modelling not because they really want to do it but because it's a way out of doing what they would consider boring. Then they find out working on games isn't about playing them all day. It's hard to get into but most of the guys I work with have never been to uni, they all worked on mod teams and showed employers what they're capable of.
