Working Online From Home

why do you need to work from home?

Desire to go to work in nothing more than pants without getting fired? :D

I can see the appeal, my gf does this, and she did what Bennie-Mac suggested which is start freelance and work your way up from there.

Word of warning though, this can take a long while to earn a significant income, depending on what you choose to do.

She's been at it for 18 months now and still doesn't make enough to live off.

My fiance works from home as an app programmer (ios/android), makes a very good wage. I guess you could say he works for himself though, from concepts, design, programming to business and networking he did himself. Recently started his own company with a partner (artist). But he does everything from home.

He's an experienced games programmer though, worked for a few multinational games companies. I know a few inexperienced guys trying to get off the ground, but it's difficult without the background experience.. I'm sure there's some that do it though!

You can work for me from home, the pay is terrible though…

As mentioned affiliate marketing is defiantly something to look into, lots of opportunity and can be very profitable if you know what you are doing. Plus all you need is an internet connection and a bit of intelligence.

I worked 6 years from home, well about 80% of it anyway. It's not all it's cracked up to be though. These days I prefer a mix of about 50/50.

Generally I go into the office in order to get distracted, attend meetings and just generally make myself available. I don't go there to actually be truly productive.

Working from home too much can screw you up mentally and socially.

This is so true. I've recently been working from home and it mentally messed me big time. I stop interacting with people.

If you work from home, you need a suitable office and you need to be really strict about going out and about exercise and time off for lunch. You'd be suprised how easy it is for some to stop doing these things.

I'm now enjoying going to the office, even though it feels a bit of a drag in the morning...

I think my ideal situation would be 3 days a week at home/2 in the office.

It'll never happen for me though, I never seem to have that luck!

What I normally do, although the last couple of weeks it's been the other way round due to being busier than usual and needing to be in to speak to people face to face on things.
